Hey guys...my brother wants to build a new cpu and he posted these specs to me. I really don't if they are compatible with each other...

Motherboard- A99FX Pro
CPU- AMD FX8350 w/cooler 4.2GHz (8-core)
Harddrive #1- Crucial 128GB SSD
harddrive #2- WesternDigital 500 GB
Windows 7.0 Home Edition
Ram- 16GB DDR3 Kingston HyperX
Video card- GTX760 $259.00
powersupply- 850watt

Can I get some input from the masters? Thanks.

Dino,

Looking at the specs list, I'm assuming it's actually an Asus M5A99FX Pro motherboard, not an A990x as when googled, nothing shows up for that. Build-wise, all looks like it should be no problem. I don't have enough specifics to tell for 100% certainty though. Which Kingston Hyper X ram is he wanting to use? Do you know which speed? Also, do you know which brand of powersupply he's going with? An 850W Rosewill vs an 850W Corsair or Seasonic powersupply is no comparison. He'll need to check the +12v amp ratings on the power supply. I would get one with at least 70a at 850W.

Sidenotes:
At this price point, for about $20 more he can go with an Intel Core i5 4670k edition and a good motherboard and get a much better system.

Also, unless he's planning to run more hard drives or dual video cards in the future, a 750W power supply will work for this build just fine, especially if he switches to an intel build, whose processors require a lot less power. If I were him, I'd switch out to a 750W power supply and with the money saved from that, switch out to an intel build instead. For a motherboard, I'd recommend the MSI G45-Gaming motherboard. Both Brock and I have it and it's worked flawlessly.
